Senior Health Equity Analyst, Northwest Region

Korey Jackson

Korey Jackson, MS, serves as a Senior Health Equity Analyst for I-HOPE, a statewide opportunity designed to address the effects of health disparities for better health outcomes. As part of a regional Field Implementation Team, Korey brings voices to the table to talk about innovative ways to better connect people with the support they need to get healthy and stay healthy. He works with stakeholders to reach communities who are at higher risk for health disparities and those who are disproportionately affected by the pandemic.

Prior to coming to Purdue, Korey served Harris County in Houston, Texas—the third most populous county in the country—as its public health department's Chronic Disease Manager and as a mobile testing team COVID-19 Site Manager who administered test kits in precincts 1 and 4. In this dual role, Korey was able to implement several community-based, chronic disease self-management programs; provide community interventions; and offer innovative self-management technical devices.

In 2017, Korey worked with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a Public Health Associate to increase healthy behaviors in at-risk communities through expanded chronic disease services as well as public health services for pediatric and aging populations. Prior to the CDC, he worked with the Marion County Public Health Department's Housing and Neighborhood Health team in Indianapolis, Ind., to manage and implement environmental health regulations for residential and business properties in the city's northwest and east districts

Korey earned two bachelor's degrees from Purdue University in Occupational and Environmental Health ('12) and a master’s degree from Indiana University in Health and Safety Management ('15). He is a first-responder in mental health coaching for his community, and  envisions creating coaching opportunities for the unjustly treated and lower-income communities through the development of programs, workshops, and conferences. In his spare time, Korey enjoys nature walks, participating in church activities, and spending quality time with family and friends.
